April 25, 2024 - Another 2 years in the cellar is the only set back from scoring a perfect 100.
March 28, 2024 - Tasted at The Great Italian Walkabout, host by Tenuta Park90.
Didn’t have time for the wine tasting notes. Only the scores.
February 19, 2024 - Jesper Hedegaard tasting. Very concentrated, high tannins, very long and quite balanced. Lots of oak. Not at all typical for Sangiovese - but very likable
January 9, 2024 - PnP. Color is deep garnet. On the nose: Cherry, earth, rose, hints of licorice and tar. On the palate: Sour black Cherry, tar, dusty tannins, rose and forest floor, hint of vanilla as well. Needs time to open up and time to age but it’s clearly very good and worth seeking out.
August 17, 2023 - A very attractive price in a small restaurant in Castellina in Chianti made this a must try. Still very tight and full of potential. Impressive concentration, balance, and depth. Definitely needs a good 1-2 hour decant and food if drinking right now. There are a lot of layers that will unfurl with time and take this wine to another dimension. I recommend cellaring for 5+ years. It should drink well for a couple of decades after that.
April 11, 2023 - Young and tight. Needs at least another 5 years to start smoothing down some of the tannic edges.
March 12, 2023 - During a walkabout event, no detailed tasting notes. The Fontodi wines had good aromas but felt very tannic today.
November 24, 2022 - Decanted
Once the wine has had a chance to stretch its legs it reveals scents of dark cherry and pomegranate that are deep and pure. Accompanying scents of florals, fresh picked herbs, graphite pencil and gentle traces of tobacco and leather.
Young but accessible on the palate. Extremely balanced with all components working in harmony. Polished tannins are firm but effortless, acidity perfectly balances those tannins. The concentration is impressive without being a bruiser. This is an elegant vintage that should age exceptionally well.
July 30, 2022 - Young but starting to show its true colours and frankly a wine we avoided for many years and in the last few has surprised it us with its quality and character. Maybe they moved away from the modern monster wine making of the early 2000s that we didn’t like or just the vintages got better but that been said this is very good and with a few more years of cellaring would score even higher. 91 at this young stage but very good.
July 26, 2022 - Uva Wines portfolio tasting (Oinoscent): The wine shows medium to high intensity, dried herbs and fruit, red cherries and currants, olive paste, a touch warm (15%)
The palate shows medium body, medium to high acidity, dried fruits, earthy, spicy, oaky/planky, hot medium finish
