January 28, 2024 - Quality made, but for the pedigree of the vineyard, not really distinctive compared to other Bien Nacido Syrahs I have enjoyed.

January 12, 2024 - One of the better bottles of Syrah you can find in America.

September 21, 2023 - Mid weight crisp and fresh. Dense core of savory meat and pepper spice notes. Gets a little thin and narrow on the mid palate into the finish but might broaden with time. A ringer for N Rhone.

August 18, 2023 - Savory nose with raw meat, garrigue, white pepper, and red plum. Dry textured black plum, sandy soils, dried bay leaf, and loads of white peppercorn. Crisp finish brings some acidity, with broad-shouldered but medium-weight tannins, dry plum, wet clay, and lingering white oak. Interesting wine that's lighter on its feet than typical California Syrah with the 12.5% alcohol.

June 3, 2023 - It’s a good wine, just lacking some of those great characteristics I love about syrah. Nose: blackberry, menthol, cedar spices, some alcohol, and forest floor. Palate: blackberries, iron, herbal - which dominates- , some cured meat, well balanced and very easy to drink. Medium acidity and medium tannins. Medium to full body.

May 29, 2023 - Third and last bottle, first note. Soaring aromatics. Dark fruit, dried flowers, olives and meaty undertones. Really delicious. A consistently great bottling and one I drink through within 5 years of release with no regrets.

February 20, 2023 - Monday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Called this the Pax Sonoma Hillsides right away. It's pretty similar with that clear syrah profile. Plenty of syrah spice here, but lacking the weight, complexity, and depth on the palate that the best syrahs can have. I preferred this to the T'n'S Blocks alongside.

December 5, 2022 - Fresh and vibrant with great fruit and flavors. Still young. Would wait 3-5 years on this one.
