May 4, 2016 - My first Madeira wine. Delish! We drank it on our honeymoon. I loved it and wanted more. Expensive but delicious, quite a treat! $44.

March 22, 2016 - A pair of Madeiras at Work (Delectable HQ): Deep lustrous amber. Sweet and dark-fruited nose of savory medjool dates, molasses, candied cashews, and caramelized pecans. Sweet on the palate - feels maybe 30-40g/L, with strong acid and an extended finish. Very well integrated. Suggestions of ripe lanzones, chicu.

March 10, 2016 - Pretty tasty madeira. Nice ripe example of malvasia with raisin, chocolate, and toasted walnut. Still with enough acidity to feel fresh and not cloying.

March 3, 2016 - Yum! Great tension between the heavy, syrupy attack and the saline, nutty finish. This really surpasses the similarly priced 1996 Colheita I was selling at the same price. Excellent.

February 2, 2016 - Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Complex aromatics: earthy-spicy tones, musk, cigar smoke. Smooth, round and plus on the nose. Complex elements of orange and apricot jams, spiced tea, honeycomb. Long and rich but so fresh with a lingering sense of pleasant bitterness.

(NV Broadbent Madeira Malmsey 10 Years Old) An outstanding value, this is my house Madeira. Maple color with a defined yellow edge. Aromatics belie the wine’s age, delivering intricate nuances of beef bouillon, sea air, roasted nuts, lemon, and caramelized sugar. Sweet, with bracing acidity and flavors of butterscotch, lemon zest, and pralines. A delicious, complex midpalate yields to a finely tuned, lingering aftertaste. Although reasonably priced Madeiras often lack the richness and unctuosity of more expensive bottlings, this wine delivers a smooth, viscous, refined mouthfeel.
