    July 4, 2020 - 100% Zinfandel
from Eschen Ranch, Sierra Foothills, Amador County, California.
    12.1% Abv. Bottled May 1978

Winemaker: Paul Draper (since 1969, retired 2016)

Cellared since release. Mid-shoulder fill with sign of seepage through capsule.
Moist and intact cork slipped inside bottle with only slight push.
Decanted for 4 hours and drank over 2 more hours.
Musky nose blew clear after an hour.

On the occasion of Independence Day, July 4, 2020.

A(ccuracy)=2: Med deep, clear garnet/amber rim. Focused, mature red.
B(alance)=2: Tertiary flavors with firm acid structure.
C(omplexity)=2: Sun-dried prunes, hawthorn, toffee candy.
D(epth)=2: Intense mouthfeel. Impressive length and finish.

    Wine Tally Score [2,2,2,2] = 8/10

With significant ullage lowering expectation, serendipitous liveliness turned out most gratifying.
