January 17, 2017 - We shared this with friends on 1/17/17. It had a deep, rich, elegant and earthy bouquet of lavender, raspberry, blackberry, anise, cinnamon, bay leaf, herb, spice and mineral aromas. The palate was rich, deep, elegant and dusty dry with flavors of blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, toast, herb, spice and minerals. 92+

    January 12, 2017 - Birthday wine....

Deep, dark burgundy, full bodied, high ABV
Chalky, high minerality, Dark cherries, raspberries
Big and juicy. A succulent wine. Sweet prunes. Some light oak.

A wonderful wine for sure. I will open my next one next year. This wine will only get better.

December 30, 2016 - An old favorite-tasted on the 7th night of Chanukah with traditional fare- roast chicken, potato pancakes etc.

Medium ruby color with some signs of aging/lightening at the rim.

Pronounced and evolved nose of red fruits, baking spice, smoked meats and Smokey roasted nuts.

Full boded with medium acidity and tannin. Lots of red fruit, spice and smoke on the palate with a long savory finish.

This has always been one of my favorite recent Beaucastels and if memory serves me correctly no Hommage was made this year, so all the fruit went into this one.

Dinking well now and will age for another decade- but why wait!

December 26, 2016 - Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for 1.5 hours. Cherry, blackberry, smoked meat, raspberry, cocoa, underbrush, black tea and dried herbs on the nose and palate. Ripe tannins. Full bodied leading to a long finish. Served with a Swedish buffet.

December 26, 2016 - PnP, was left in the fridge for too long, thus took a while for the wine to warm & open up. Most of the wine was consumed 3 hours with some left for the 5th hour. For us, the wine was best at 3 hour mark along with some cheeses & charcuterie. Love the balance of acidity with that hint of sweet fruits (prunes? figs? plums), black tea, follow by grainy smooth tannins, med+ to full body, med+ length finish - finishes with tobacco , earth, minerals. At 5 hours mark, there's was some fading of fruits with more pronounce acidity, tobacco finish.
