April 8, 2017 - Complex nose of cassis, black pepper, black tea, bell pepper, plums, balsamic and earthy spices. Full bodied with well balanced acidity. Still fruity with powerfull grippy tannins. With long lasting complex aftertaste of dark berries and spices.

March 11, 2017 - From a bottle opened for dinner on Thursday night (about 40+ hours ago).
Dark translucent ruby in the glass at the core; black & red fruits (most notably ripe blackberry) on the nose, with a nice tobacco note as well.
Medium-bodied on the palate, somewhat dilute in the middle, with an abbreviated finish. What our friends across the pond might call an "acceptable luncheon claret".

January 15, 2017 - Required 90 minutes in the wide-bottom decanter and warming to room temperature to show fully (before that somewhat muted). This was one of the fuller-bodied Lalandes I've tasted. I usually prefer the more dirty, earthy notes of the Baron but this was balanced, interesting and delicious. It had the usual cigar box nose and tobacco notes over a very integrated secondary Pauillac body. Seems to be in its prime.
December 25, 2016 - The 94 still has a nice nose of lead pencil, fruit is there on attack, but I find finish dry and short...
Likely better with food than as a stand alone at this point.

(Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande) From magnum - dark red violet color; mushroom, leather and cedar nose; tasty, well structured, rounded cassis and red fruit palate; medium-plus finish (45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot)

(Chateau Pichon-Lalande Pauillac) Dark, deeply coloured, mature. An impressive nose, loaded with a super-sweet depth of smoky, meaty, blackcurrant nose. The palate keeps up appearances, with a wealth of big, sweet, glossy, creamy and textured fruit. Very accessible, voluptuous, although with a tannic backbone. Exotic. Balanced. Absolutely gorgeous wine. Approachable now, but with a little tannin still showing in the finish as well this has room for improvement yet.
