June 20, 2016 - This is starting to come into its own. Lush but mature flavours of blackberry and blackcurrant, really good length, still tannic on back end. Lovely and still on the up.

April 25, 2016 - More 1994 than Pichon Lalande. Still some rather hard/raspy tannins. Black currant, tobacco leaf, stern. B-

April 19, 2016 - Pichon Lalande Tasting: Pronounced smell of sweet pipe tobacco and balck currants, youthful, a hint of complexity; Sweet mouth, but even so rather rustic, pronounced tannin, zappy, not that long.

March 26, 2016 - One of first bottles purchased in pursuit of wine education. Decanted for about 30 minutes. Pristine cork, barely stained. Garnet color with some lightening at the edges. Nose of pine forest, cassis, currant, cedar, violets, damp cellar. Initially light-bodied and somewhat astringent, the palate expanded over a 4-hour period to reveal fully-resolved layers of poised red currant and plum fruit laced with smoky graphite, tobacco, and subtle green leaf. Modest acidity and persistent tannins leading to a longer finish of sweet plum, leather, and soft grip. Excellent showing indicating plenty of life left.

March 6, 2016 - Classic PL sensuousness, with silky smooth flavours of intense fruit. Prominent notes of tobacco and spice, rustic herbs and cassis. Drinking beautifully now.

(Chateau Pichon-Lalande Pauillac) Dark, deeply coloured, mature. An impressive nose, loaded with a super-sweet depth of smoky, meaty, blackcurrant nose. The palate keeps up appearances, with a wealth of big, sweet, glossy, creamy and textured fruit. Very accessible, voluptuous, although with a tannic backbone. Exotic. Balanced. Absolutely gorgeous wine. Approachable now, but with a little tannin still showing in the finish as well this has room for improvement yet.
