April 27, 2021 - Had the 2006 side-by-side with the Moulin Haut-Laroque 2005 the other night. The 2006 is a very elegant Merlot-based Bordeaux with finesse and style. Black berries and cherries, and typical for MH-L some black olive tapenade and coffee. While it's a fine wine for the vintage, the 2005 is the much bigger wine, more opulent, with a much smoother and rounder mouthfeel. 89 points for the 2006, 92 points for the 2005. Funny enough, the average ratings for the two vintages are similar despite the significant difference between the two wines.

November 26, 2018 - Old-fashioned, in that it's restrained, elegant and classy. Cool, fresh notes of red cherry and light raspberry, with no trace of the rusticity of other bottles. Deceptive power, very Margaux-like, subtle and refined. In fact it embarrassed a bottle of Malescot 04 which tasted vulgar in comparison - at a mere 8 times more than this one cost.

December 1, 2017 - Still improving, this is a good effort, much better than the 2010. The rusticity is still lingering in the background, but the red cherry flavours have taken on a lot of sheen and the overall impression is one of persistent elegance with just enough ripeness to keep it perky.

April 7, 2015 - This has developed well since I last tried one two years ago. The aromas and flavours are much the same, but the rusticity is less evident and the wine has acquired a certain sheen. It hasn't quite got the fruit and depth to compare with other vintages, but this is still a good example of La Tour DHM and at 5€, I'm more than satisfied.

March 5, 2013 - Dark colour, with aromas which remind me of Christmas cake. Rich and onctuous in the mouth, with plums, blackcurrants with a dash of spice and sultanas. There is a pleasing freshness mid-palate, but perhaps slightly rustic at this stage. Not at it best yet, it will improve further over the next five years. A little more elegance would have been welcome, but this is stupendous value.
