December 28, 2016 - Silver oak used to be the end all but as I've learned and tried more( plus price curve increased), my little be for this wine is of nostalgia. Perhaps this bottle was past its prime, but it was flat and uninteresting

December 25, 2016 - This wine definitely needed some air. At first taste the alcohol was up front with thick dark fruit in the back. After 3 hours it hit its peak and from there to 4 hours we warmed it from 60-65 degrees which added another layer of woodiness to the palette. The alcohol smell tapered off and a well balanced Cabernet emerged. This may be better for 2-3 years but also may have peaked. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and at the price point it was well worth the cost at purchase and worthy of the hearty prime rib and root vegetables it was served with.
