November 19, 2018 - Bright garnet, medium body. Bright cherry and some tobacco on nose. Cherry drop, licorice, leather on mouth. Dryness with incredible cherry drop finish. Pretty good but not very good. Still youthful in feeling.
December 25, 2016 - Impressively rich nose of dried dark cherry fruit (almost coulis-like) with bits of cedar spice, smoke, lavender, anise and an intriguing note of juniper mixed with hedge grow/schrubs. Ends relatively firm with drying tannin and a background note of saw dust. Powerful fruit that becomes more backward with time in the glass. I would give this another five + years and then check up on it again.
May 24, 2015 - This wine is developing nicely. All the attributes of 2005 (including its tannins) melding together and softening into a lovely whole. Baked bean nose, hints of vanilla, soft red fruits but still enough stuffing to promise years of pleasure. Meaty, losing some of its sturdiness to be replaced by more typical Pinot elegance.
November 17, 2012 - Nose is opens nicely, pine and red fruit. Taste, good fruit with just a wisp of grip. Drinks now but I am betting on more with bottle time.
January 23, 2011 - Wonderfully ripe nose of deep raspberry, cherry fruits with a hint of pine and forest floor introduce medium weight flavors of similar fruits mixed with smoky meats, supported by good, integrated tannin. Very good resolve and elegant for a typical Marsannay. This is drinkable at present time but will only evolve for the better. Good body, weight and balance.
December 5, 2010 - rode kleur, mooie neus, rood klein fruit, licht kruidig, geur heeft een duidelijke ontwikkeling, je merkt dat de wijn langzaam openkomt, smaak heeft veel gewicht, structuur, inhoud, maar alles is nog wat verpakt, het straalt nog niet, de tweede dag al mooier ontwikkeld en meer drinkgenot, heeft potentie
September 13, 2010 - seems like it`s hiding itself but never the less this is quite delicious stuff, great nose of fresh herbs, red berries tar and some baconfat, on the palate there`s some clove licorice and cherries.
it could be in a state of closing down cus it was a little thin and not all there but it seemed like the components for great a wine is in there, I enjoyd drinking this and would again at this price.
March 21, 2010 - Beautiful Marsannay. This is an underrated appelation, especially from Clair. It may not be a full-bodied, highly extracted wine, but it's very fragrant, nicely balanced, decent finish, and just a pleasure to sip.
January 18, 2010 - Would be better if the finish weren't clipped, but this is otherwise a complete wine and quite tasty. Simple yet in the style of 05s, plenty of fruit. I suspect the finish will work outself out in time, no need to rush to drink these.
