March 3, 2022 - As reliably good as a wine at this price point (sub-$15) gets, in my book. Nose shows juicy plums and raspberries with a lot of mesquite, smoky, peppery, soy glaze elements. Saucy on the palate with smooth tannins and medium-low acidity. Roasted red pepper, mesquite and anise add complexity. Fun, cheap stuff.
September 18, 2021 - Further to my Note of May 25, '21: this is #3. The rich fruit nose and body with a bit of barnyard are appealing; this a reliable everyday but unusual red that pairs well with hearty meals. Glad to have more and no hurry to get through them. Solid notable+.
August 28, 2021 - Harrumph. This is a wild child. Gritty and aggressive. Bramble and thorn. Hot and abrasive. A bit of open time moderates the uncontrolled persona. Consumed with spicy beef and beans. It was always vying for attention. It’s a wild ride a for a certain type of wine cowboy.
June 22, 2021 - BevMo. Not bad but nothing special.
May 25, 2021 - Bought 6b for 7/b from a local eclectic shop late last summer; this is #2. Dark purple; ripe syrah nose, some pepper; ripe red plums, some forest floor, somewhat rustic; good mouthfeel. One of the best everyday rich, round reds that can last for a while. Stored vertically (screwcap) in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation (see earlier posts for my 4-category, non-point rating system): This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.
March 16, 2021 - 75/100
February 12, 2021 - Robust yet fruity. Very enjoyable with food that needs full flavor and acidity.
June 25, 2020 - And its got some SA action going on it. But robust and full.
