February 15, 2016 - Decanted for 30 minutes and paired with grilled salmon.

Dark red color with a touch of sediment. Meat, blackberry, iron, black pepper & dirt on nose. On palate, similar flavor profile to nose with high acidity, moderate tannins and a long finish. Very enjoyable and was great on night 2 so no rush on this. 92+

January 24, 2016 - Aromas of camphor, pine needle and oak. A modern C-R with quite a lot of oak and extraction. Dry, woody finish.

December 30, 2015 - So a closed nose - almost cooked. Very much roasted blueberry and not much else. As time wore on it got a bit of smoke and almost a bacon fat aroma but not quite. Fruit ok acid not that great but a long finish. Not sure what I saw when I bought this. It will get better but I am not sure it will ever be great.

December 2, 2015 - Syrah Blinds (Leon, Tim, and Friends) (The Palace Steakhouse, SF): Medium garnet. The nose is predominantly fecal. A bit strong for me. Dirty diaper, clove, some acetaldehyde. Slight lambic character (lots of Brett influence).
Structurally, this sees classic of Northern Rhone, maybe on the softer side.
    Some age, but not much.
    13.5% Alcohol.
Based on the rusticity of this (the dirtiness), I'm guessing this is:

    2007 Cornas, ~$50
    Actually: Jasmin, Cote-Rotie, 2006
no stems, lots of big neutral barrels, some viognier

He racks his wine many times, so gets a lot of exposure to air. They have a faded character.
    I'm not a fan.
    Score: 8-8.5

September 22, 2015 - Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Dark garnet core with maroon rim; nutty, minty, ripe, hint of VA, smooth texture, black pepper, slight funk, smoky, granite; plush texture, good acid, dark cherry, plum; really delicious, overall a slight rustic quality, very good; called '07 Cote Rotie.
