June 26, 2014 - Tasting at Domaine Huet and Domaine du Clos Naudin; 6/24/2014-6/26/2014 (Vouvray): This had been decanted for several hours but still seemed rather closed. Good weight and elegant wine though. 91+?

April 21, 2014 - Not the best Huet 1ere Trie that I have had but a very good and solid wine. Fruit a bit grilled both in the nose and mouth, but a very balanced profile with an excellent acidity. Will keep my other bottle for no less than 5 years.

June 29, 2013 - Nose with dried yellow fruit, discrete honey notes, spice, and some smoke. The palate is sweet with dried yellow fruit, honey (heather honey), noticeable spice notes, and good acidity. 90 p
Residual sweetness 65 g/l.

March 3, 2013 - Not quite up to the expectations I usually have for a Huet 1er trie, but this is still very good. Ripe Chenin fruit with some botrytised apricot, honeyed and spicy accents, lovely purity and textural finesse and impressive length. Very nice, though not showing the level of complexity and depth these wines usually have.
September 12, 2010 - Light yellow. Tons going on in the nose. apricot, honey, flowers and pine. Really nice sweetness but very balanced finish. Very good.

(Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie) Residual sugar 65.2 g/l, alcohol 12.1% The nose here shows why aging Vouvray is essential as already it is displaying the deep, complex minerality swirled with honey and acacia and honeysuckle, all in a frame of crunchy golden fruit, that more mature wines display. When it comes together like this these wines can seem almost ethereal. And yet it is still so very young! As you might expect it has a beautiful substance in the mouth, showing a slightly more reserved drier style than some of the previous vintages, the effect of age plus a slightly more restrained residual (for a première trie). Very fresh and precise but well covered acidity, good purity, floral overtones too, a very sweet and elegant style. A long, polished, substantial finish. This is delicious, although it is not up with the greatest vintages.
