March 25, 2017 - Decanted 3 hours prior to consumption. Dark tanzanite color gives no clues to this being a 12 year old wine. The huge nose reveals blackberry, currant, dark chocolate and a little saddle leather. The full body shows great dark fruit wrapped in smooth sweet tannin. Finish lasts 45 seconds.

This is a outstanding example of Napa Cabernet. I expect this has at least another two decades of life.

February 5, 2017 - From magnum. Definitely a modern-twist on Napa Cabernet. Dense, full nose has polished black fruit, oak spice with some underlying cedar. Palate is ripe and polished but quite balanced in the style with firm structured tannins. Oak signature in the finish. Very good, but you need a higher tolerance of ripeness and oak.

February 5, 2017 - Good Wine with an Exciting Super Bowl (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): Small glass, brief note. From magnum. A behemoth of a wine in both good and bad terms. Somewhat too rich, but with underlying structure to maintain just enough balance to be a fun wine.

February 2, 2017 - A bit funky aroma on opening without time to breath but none the less smooth, rich and lots of flavors

January 21, 2017 - Birthday Wines; 1/20/2017-1/21/2017 (at Home): Fruity cassis nose. Alcohol is heavy in the finish and it detracts from the wine.

Day 2 - alcohol improves significantly and brings the score up significantly. Finish is very short which is surprising

Lovely Mid palate and balanced body.
