July 26, 2016 - Firmly disagree with other reviewers who think this needs more cellar time, let alone another ten years. This wine is drinking beautifully now and I really don't see it getting much better. Everything you could ever want or expect with HSS. An hour and a half splash decant and heaven! Have three magnums in the cellar which will see consumption in the next couple years.

July 22, 2016 - Poker night - Mostly double blind - Rayas, Masseto, Schrader, QC and etc. (Reston, Va): Double blind. Excellent concentration, cult cab nose, cassis, dark milk chocolate and vanilla. Exceptional concentration. Knowing RJ and the bottle being heavy, my guess is HSS.

July 10, 2016 - Decanted for 4 hours; beautiful balance and wonderful mouthfeel. Black fruit, graphite and cassis.. Can't get much better than this

July 4, 2016 - Decanted. Part of an all American wine evening. I'm a big fan of this wine, starting back with the 94 vintage. This is my last purchase from the mailing list, and I have another bottle. But, even though I think this is excellent, it ain't gonna get better languishing in the back of your cellar. 2005 is not 1995. Times, and winemaking have changed. I think this style of Napa cab, and I contend that SHS is near the top of the food chain, is best before age 10. And I don't think that is something to make apologies for. Too many people think that a wine is inferior if it doesn't age for 50 years. In my mind, ridiculous. A beautiful, fruit forward Napa Cabernet has it's own special ethos, and despite my French turned palate, I still relish a wine such as this. Do I really have to recount the notes from this wine? Redundant. Drink it, enjoy it, but don't hold it.
