December 19, 2023 - Perhaps a touch down a notch from my last bottle in 12/22, this felt silky and dense at the same time with a touch of tertiary age coming into the otherwise huge zone of dark black fruit, but it never seemed to really open up. Nice nose, but not especially pinot-like. Medium+ finish. Like last year, this sort of feels like at a plateau and my guess is it starts downward from here but who knows…
April 5, 2023 - Bordeaux like. Very long .Was very nice.
December 14, 2022 - Dense, chewy, cherry and black cherry fruit and nose. Medium finish. Still almost primary w no plum, nuttiness, etc. Quite closed initially at first but got deeper and almost more Bordeaux-like as it opened. Will be interesting to taste my other bottles over time (doing 1 per year) but also unclear how much better it gets.
November 14, 2021 - not blind
Filigree, elegant, at his peak, some wild strawberries, balanced. 92-93
October 2, 2021 - Garnet, with just the slightest bricking. Good nose - still has cherry and faint strawberry. An earthy touch now. Palate is medium weight, and holding well, tannins fully resolved. Perhaps just a touch short, but drinking so well at this level and age.
July 17, 2021 - Chose this bottle to present as ideal example of Gevrey terroir to a Burgundy tasting group and it did not disappoint. Fairly primary and drinking young.
May 31, 2021 - Very earthy and mushroom nose. Beautiful red fruit with some spice on the palate. Love the spherical mouthfeel. Really polished and impressive at this level.
December 2, 2020 - Good but the company was unfortunately better tonight, too predictable and a little watered down for me
March 14, 2020 - Cherry, cola, herbs, spice snd candied fruit. Good transperancy with moderate weight. Well crafted village with hint of polishness.
March 10, 2020 - Dinner at Tonny's (Tonny Restaurant): Way better than it was 5 years back - this is starting to show very nicely, but it still needs time. A testament to the strength of the 2005 vintage. The nose was still a little tight, with a little layer of earth and mineral, maybe a hint of meat, than a lovely lift of red cherries and berries and a lilt of flowery perfume. Very nice. The palate was showing very strongly - fine velvet tannins and firm acidity framed a lovely mouthful of dark cherries and red berries sprinkled with dried rose petals, and then a nice touch of earth and a bit of spice leading into a full, chewy finish. Lots of power and depth here - this drank more like a 1er Cru than a village, but needs quite a bit more time before it reaches anywhere near peak. Solid.
