June 6, 2023 - Meaty notes, dried berries. Integrated tannins. Really drinking beautifully and perfect within bbq steak

February 28, 2023 - Still holding together well, nice structure. Showing some signs of drying out.

April 16, 2016 - Dark savory and ripe. Nicely intense, but also with a herbal complexity. Dark cherry and plum fruit, with a dry slightly tannic finish. Went better with the grilled chicken and vegetables than it did with the dark chocolate cake, the fruit was not there to balance the sweetness of the cake, but the tannins and acidity worked great with the grilled food.

December 3, 2015 - The Wine Night at Bellevue Wine Storage Part 2: This was a delicious wine and compared really well to a Bordeaux lineup. Showed lots of sweet blackberry fruit, but with great balance and complexity.

October 8, 2015 - I don't know anything about this wine, but it showed very well. Fruit and a little old world funk with good acidity. A ++ midweek wine w/ meatballs. I wouldn't hesitate to open if you have one.

(Montiano Redux) Italy Redux Dear Friends, For some reason I’ve had a bunch of inquiries this morning asking if we had more of this - maybe it was reviewed or something (I have no idea)? We offered this last week and the original write-up is below. I’m trying to catch my flight home at the moment, so here you go. Please let us know your interest up to 12/person and we will confirm availability if we can get more. If you‘ve already ordered this item and would like additional bottles, please limit your total number to 12 bottles. This is directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance: 2004 Montiano (Falesco) Italy9868

(Falesco Montiano) Magnum SPECIAL Dear Friends, I just returned from speaking at a wine event about the 2006 vintage in Germany (one of the most overlooked/misunderstood in history at the high Auslese level and above) and this gift was in my “In” box. I will surmise my comments on the German wines in an UPDATE tomorrow or at some point next week. We have nothing to sell from the vintage but it demands far more scrutiny than the US public is giving it (the problem with 2006 is that it followed 2005 and there is so much round extract covering the real soul of the wines that it’s tough to taste them in youth). Back to the gift in my “In” box... Due to your support of the regular 750ml bottles yesterday, Falesco has agreed to release a limited set of magnums of the 2004 Montiano at cellar door cost (to remind yourself about the wine, please see my comments in yesterday’s offer for the 750ml’s). Maybe it’s just a simple thank you from the winery for the incredible support of their wines over the years but it’s a great deal nonetheless (like the 750ml’s yesterday). Magnums of highly rated red wine do not usually come at this price so take advantage. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance 2004 Montiano (Falesco) 1.5lt Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy9872

(Montiano) Montiano SPECIAL Dear Friends, Is this finally the vintage where the Montiano separates itself from the pack? The competition is great in 2004 and this 100% Merlot, with designs on the level of Massetto, has always been a Parker darling (it is one of his highest rated Italian wines over the last decade - maybe even the highest rated over that long of a period) but has it delivered in the bottle - really delivered? My experience is that each vintage needs a number of years in the cellar to shed a rangy quality that occurs after bottling. The material is in the bottle, that is undeniable, but many past vintages have failed to be accessible enough during their first year after release giving the wine a tag of “Hmmm?”. With that as a preface, the 2004 Montiano follows in the footsteps of the 2004 Marcilliano (also made by Falesco) and those footsteps are from very big shoes. This vintage of Montiano, from an absolutely grand harvest up and down the west coast of Italy (Bolgheri, Lazio, et al), delivers the goods and it’s a wine that is going to find a place in your “wow” rack. Check out the recent WS scores on the 2004 coastal Italian wines for an indication of how strong this vintage is. So, what’s the wine like? The 2004 Montiano has intensity, depth and extract with an uncanny dark minerality and liquid varietal quality that lovers of 2005 Bordeaux will fall prey to quite easily. This wine would be an excellent comparison to some of the more interesting 2005 Right Bank wines like Angelus. For the price, I think this wine will more than hold its own. There were only 1500 cases made of this wine as the winery has intentionally stepped down production to concentrate on quality. In order to do this, the price has been raised by approximately 20% but the quality justifies the tarrif. With the state of the Euro, it is getting very difficult to offer exceptional prices on wine from top vintages but this is an exception. This special price is only available to us until October 1st or until we exhaust our allocation. Our price should be about the lowest price in the world with this level of provenance - directly form the winery cellar. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - one shipment only at this price. 2004 Montiano (Falesco) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy9873
