November 6, 2017 - OCTOBER REVOLUTION CENTENARY TASTING. low fill, very dark, quite oxidized but extremely rich and intense buttery, baked fruit nose. Taste is much better: mind-boggling power, richness, and concentration suggests a supernatural blend of amontillado and verdelho madeira on steroids. never-ending finish.

March 13, 2010 - La Paulee Gala (San Francisco CA): La Paulee Gala. Big powerful fruit with lots of spice and fat. Emerging hint of secondary character adds charm. I would have been completely stunned by this wine's harmony and greatness if not for the 1985 DRC Montrachet poured 5 minutes earlier into one of my other glasses.

May 1, 1986 - This is where the honor system broke down and some in attendance poured more than their share and were subjected to group discipline. A once in a lifetime opportunity was more than up to expectations as this wine filled the room with extraordinary aromas of hot, roasted, buttered popcorn. The taste and finish was clearly the finest white wine tasting experience I've had in this monumental tasting at The Wine Merchant, Beverly Hills, CA.
