July 28, 2023 - Basic Madeira, tasty and sweet, but dominated by caramel/toffee flavors. It was fine to drink, but I'd only buy this again for cooking.
November 30, 2021 - A pretty basic Madeira, I'm using it in a Christmas cake.
September 15, 2018 - What I love about this basic Madeira is its mild sweetness (it is more off-dry than sweet, and certainly not cloying) combined with a searing acidity. The richness comes from a combination of vanilla and coffee on the palate. While it is very nice to drink, it is also cheap enough to cook with, and does amazing things to onion soup.
December 15, 2016 - $16.69 plus $6.85 delivery (what's still called "shipping," even though it's really "trucking"). Brown in colour. I would also describe it as brown in flavour, compared to other Madeiras I've had. Slightly burnt, like burnt or at least browned caramel. Still rich and flavourful. Would buy again at that price, although I'd rather pay $4.50 per bottle for ground delivery.
May 30, 2016 - Still quite tannic, will sustain some time in bottle.
March 7, 2016 - For the price, this is remarkably good Madeira. The balance between sweetness and acidity is excellent, and there are lovely notes of buttered pecans and raisins. It's fine enough for sipping, yet cheap enough to use - without remorse - for cooking.
February 2, 2016 - Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Nutty with lots of caramel on the nose, a slight floral kick. The palate is full of sweet raisins and candied almonds. Fun, a bit simple, sweet but stays quite fresh. Aged three years.
May 22, 2007 - Broadbent Wines (LIWSF, London): A good, forward nose. Nice palate, with good balance. Very Good.
