March 23, 2024 - Sour cherry, blackberry, some leather and tobacco notes. Light finish that doesn't linger too long. Overall an enjoyable Rioja and good QPR @ $24
January 9, 2024 - Inoffensive, but pretty muted.
September 29, 2023 - Quite nice. Very leathery, with lots of dried fruit--plum (I guess prune?), cherry, maybe something clustery (blackberry?). A lingering cigar room flavor, like a piece of furniture that's been smoked in front of too often. At the age I drank it, it was plenty alcoholic, and almost sweetened.
May 29, 2023 - Predominately granacha, more than Tempranillo, and held beyond the minimum to qualify for “reserva.” This really shows the positive effects of its aging and presents with a beautiful deep ruby color. Nose of black cherry, tamarillo, and boysenberry. On the palate you can taste the vanilla of American oak but it’s all richly bound together. Excellent.
September 10, 2022 - Translucent red, leathery and peppery nose, medium-bodied and slightly tannic even 10 years old! Yet the finish is still fresh and puckery, and it is completely clear. Tasted next to a Cubillo (Lopez Heredia, same vintage) and compares very favorably. A touch sweeter
June 4, 2022 - Strong cherry. Give time to open up
May 1, 2022 - Decent Rioja for daily drinking.
2nd day better.
April 22, 2022 - Cherries and balsamic notes. Outside of my heredia/lariojaalto wheelhouse, old world, garnacha based. Very nice.
April 6, 2022 - Dark red, almost tobacco notes, leathery and cedar-y nose, dry nearly astringent finish yet it lingers and as it evaporates, leaves a long and very satisfying aftertaste. This demands something like strong cheese or grilled meats—and we had it with a salad accompanied by sheet-pan chicken! No complaints although a different food might enhance this even more.
