September 18, 2015 - Easily most unique wine I have ever enjoyed. Can't say that I loved it, but I couldn't put it down. Imagine putting a bit-o-honey candy bar, crushed walnuts (shells and all) and dried apricots into an acidic white wine base, then sealing in a sherry cask for a decade and this is what you would come up with. Drank over three weeks and the wine never conceded an inch. Can't imagine how long this wine could last.

1/13/2009 (link)(BOURDY Chateau Chalon) Chëteau-Chalon Dear Friends, Since the Wine and Spirits Bourdy review came out, I've received a wonderful amount of interest in the 2000 Chateau-Chalon mentioned in the article. As the millennium release from the estate, this is one of the most limited wines they've produced since the 1990. With that in mind, please be patient with Niki here - she will allocate the best she can. Bourdy's Chateau-Chalon (the wine referenced in the Georges V quote as the finest white wine in the world) is akin to the Jura equivalent of DRC Montrachet or something like Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne. There are other versions of Chalon but none are Bourdy. The 2000 is from an incredible year - considered the equal of the 1945 or maybe even the 1934 in potential. It is produced from a terraced, rock ensconced hillside of 100% Savagnin that represents one of Europe's most historic and treasured parcels. Even the most famous Burgundian owners and vintners will give a humble nod to this site as one of France's most important, in cultivation since 1475 (more precisely, in cultivation by Bourdy since 1475). The ageing potential of this wine goes without saying - the extract, acid, tannin (yes, tannin) and overall strength of the finished achievement will outlive any other white wine produced anywhere in the world. I have no problem staking my entire professional reputation on that statement (see the above reference article for Josh Greene's assessment of the 2000 vintage: http://www.wineandspiritsmagazine.com/pages/F&F/Ch_Chalon.html) If you are searching for the ultimate birthyear wine or one to give to your grandchildren for their 21st birthday (or 70th birthday), this is your wine at a fraction of the cost of the above referenced DRC or Coche. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as one of the most unique, eccentric and heavenly wines produced in the world: 2000 Caves Bourdy "Chëteau-Chalon" (traditional clavelin) This item is EXTREMELY LIMITED and VERY RARE (this is the last of the 2000/Millenium vintage available). It will ship during the first available shipping window this spring. Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA SOFR9570
