August 15, 2017 - Cigar and tobacco leaf initially present on the nose that yielded more sour cherry and earthy notes as it stayed in the glass. Fruit is more subdued on the palate compared to the other notes. Silky tannins and medium finish. Excellent wine.

July 15, 2017 - San Diego WineSpectator.com Offline, 7/15/2017 (Sbicca Restaurant, Del Mar, California): Allowed to breathe in glass 30 minutes. Clear dark garnet. Glorious bouquet of red and black sour cherries, fresh roses, lilacs, stony red soil, grilled sage. Similar on the palate, exuberant, vibrant, everything on full display, with mouthwatering acidity, polished tannins and lingering finish. ShaneT called it "the surprise of the night," surpassing some of the early favorites in the friendly competition. My #3, group's SECOND PLACE in this flight. Thanks Red Guy and Gal!

May 14, 2017 - Tasted blind. Very earthy, dusty nose. Dark fruit, mushrooms combined with high acidity. I thought I was a Rioja at first. Was quite tight on the palate, dense and cool, but with very fine tannins. Took about 30 minutes to open up. Nice now and I'm not sure it will improve greatly with more age.

March 16, 2017 - Wow- needs 20 min in the glass to open up. Outstanding balance, spice box and great lingering finish. Certainly in prime with ability to age 10 more years but will not improve. What a great wine. Great value.

February 10, 2017 - Dark, and more than a bit funky. Full of earth-driven, more mushroomy tones and black fruits. Mature, but large-scaled and still a firm, fine tannic frame that's a bit obtrusive. Decanting could probably help. Nice wine.
