February 25, 2024 - Medium garnet in color with some minor bricking & clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of mature, ripe fruits aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, leather, tobacco, mushrooms, tar, cocoa, minerals, balsamic & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, mature, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with mushrooms, minerals & herbs. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 27 years of age, it is at or near its peak of development. Although it may hold here for a bit longer, it may not develop any further with additional aging. A lovely, aged Brunello!

December 8, 2023 - 1997 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino; light-mid ruby, amber edges, viscous (14.0 alc.); red fruit, wood, old leaves, moss nose; low acids; fading tannins; balanced but past its prime; semi-long red fruit finish. 16.5/91

September 3, 2023 - I enjoyed, the missus not so much.
Semi-concerned on opening with the very plum hues.
    Decent nose.
Funk blows off quickly and exposes pleasant muted fruit with a lingering finish.
May be on the way down but still quite pleasant.
