March 13, 2022 - Super-silky and a wee bit barnyardy. Depends on your tolerance level for these things. But it's still very fruit-centric 15 years past release so I think the questions about the ageability of this cuvee are settled. No rush at all. If you can handle the barnyard.

February 16, 2016 - Grafted vs Ungrafted Cabernet Franc: Very rich, dense and multilayered. Herbal note (dill and physalis), high pitched florals, also some soap. A pleasant spicy note on the palate, seems hot and powerful, but well balanced and the alcohol bite doesn't seem obtrusive. Still lots of potential, I wonder how it will taste after 2-3 years. WOTN for me and everybody at the table. (92+)

February 13, 2016 - A fantastic bottle of wine. Ruby Red in the glass with undertones of plush red fruit hiding behind a barnyard odour that faded as the night went on. I didn't mind the barnyardy smell. I enjoy its earthy quality. On the palette, the wine was felt plush with soft tannins, and had a lovely floaty quality to it. I got vanilla, some spice, a little bitterness and stone fruits. Medium to full bodied with great balance and length over about 30 seconds in the mouth. Tasted better as the night went on. Can drink now, or can wait a few more years.

85 pts

February 18, 2010 - Freedom Pies (Convivio): Baudry's has always been my favorite of the Loire Valley franc de pieds and this shows why, with a weightlessness that manages to outclass the Joguet, which was pretty classy stuff to begin with. But at the same time it's a little wilder than the Joguet, sharper in acidity and with a green-pepper scent.

(Bernard Baudry Chinon Franc de Pied) The French rootstock makes this wine special. I mean I have never had a Chinon this creamy before. Like a slightly wet oatmeal-like texture. It was absolutely gripping to have Chinon that was creamy. The nose was also outrageous. Fresh carpet, herbal arom
