June 30, 2019 - Not a fan. A little bit of bricking here. Weird nail polish and tart raspberry and prune dominates this wine. Medium bodied. A little meaty. Some funk and forest floor here as well. Not in the best shape. Probably should have tasted this 5 years ago.

May 4, 2017 - Geoff Kelly's Guigal Retrospective (Regional Wines & Spirits, Wellington, New Zealand): Red-garnet colour. Prunes on the nose, dark caramelised dates and a savoury complexity; a great vintage, and superb structure after 19 years, smooth tannins, notes of cooked tomatoes, dried fruits. Long finish.

September 23, 2016 - Excellent wine for pork and flavorful homemade puree of mashed roots, power and elegance and no sign of brown colour or age, long fresh and nuanced taste, lovely to drink now but will probably hold 5-10 years, at least.

March 14, 2013 - Brown to red. Dominated by volatile acids on the nose. Meaty and quite fat in the mouth. Low in acidity, but good structure due to plenty of tannins left. Definitely not more to gain here.

December 6, 2011 - never my favorite wine, pretty much past its prime...still lots of tannins, but little in the way of fruit. a little brown around the edges...stored properly

September 16, 2011 - Dommage que j'ai attendu un peu trop car ce vin est en déclin. Oxydation excessive et manque de tannins et d'acidité. Tout de même une bouche agréable et des arômes tertiaires assez intérassantes.

May 1, 2001 - ($20) Dense in the glass. Nose is smoke, old wood, liqueur, leather. Ripe, good concentration, fairly ripe, but dry. Meaty.
