    November 19, 2023 - Mouton vs Lynch-Bages 1989, 1986, 1966 and 1961 vintages (A collector's home): Decanted for 2 hours, served single blind in a flight of 4 wines. Wine F, My 4th ranked wine, groups 4th. Gravel and coffee grinds on the nose. Surprisingly dilute palate, not much in the way of flavor or texture. This was a tired bottle.

    October 9, 2023 - Wow, impressed it’s still alive. Poured immediately after opening w a narrow decanter to separate sediments.

    The softest berry w black peppery spice. A hint of wood, feels like sitting on an old bench in a well tended garden with some spice plants.

    August 26, 2023 - Cork soaked through. Lively garnet color with light bricking at the rim. Dried black cherry, boysenberry, truffle and lead pencil on the nose. Full body, with dusty tannins and very long finish. Great bottle.

    Le plus vieux Mouton de la dégustation et ce fut une petite merveille !
    Rouge brique, Nez très élégant, du muscat, petit fruits rouge d'un sublime parfum, sous-bois, champignon sauvages mais tout en délicatesse grand nez ! En bouche c'est encore bien vif avec une acidité moyenne, le fruits est fin et présent, le vin fut sublime pendant 45 minutes. Superbe bouteille de 56 ans d'age
    Un profil bien différent du 78 ou 81

    October 5, 2021 - Served blind. Lots of brett on the nose and palate. All red fruit and sweat! Tannins resolved but not soft/fading.

    August 5, 2021 - La Tâche Dinner (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Mature black cherry and plum with cigarbox galore. Charming aromas and flavors with weightless, elegant textures. Much better than I expected.

    August 23, 2020 - Overraskende tett rødfarge med et lite modningsskjær i kanten. I starten veldig dominerende lukt av gammel kjeller. Etterhvert kommer mer saftige og modne solbær, gammel fuktig sigarkasse og slitte lærtoner. Også litt jordlige og mineralske toner fra grusen i Pauillac. God konsentrasjon, med helt avslipte tanniner og litt friskhet igjen. Spennende å smake en MR mens de fortsatt var klassifisert som «Deuxièmes Cru». Er nok passert toppen, men en deilig og elegant Bordeaux med et veldig interessant særpreg som åpner seg bra opp med tid i glasset!

    May 28, 2020 - Majestic, very well structured with lots of layers. This was an excellent showing from magnum. Tannins are resolved and beautifully intergrated. Cigar box, cassis, pencil lead, very enjoyable.
