Hmm, it’s a bit funky, touch of cellar stink, a little sourly juicy on the palate, tannic burr. Hmm.

November 19, 2021 - 25 Old Bordeaux grand cru classe - vertical (1920->) and horizontal semi blind wine tasting dinner (Copenhagen (Private)): A semi blind tasting of 25 right and left bank Grand cru Classé wines ranging from Mouton Rothschild to Chateau Cheval Blanc. 2/3 from 1920-1990 and the rest younger.

This wine: Second time we tasted this wine during evening but this time from magnum - still blind! Sligtly better. I rated the magnum 89 and the bottle 88. Pale ruby color but with a light rim. (clearly less developed than the bottle which was tawny). Unfortunately a little corked but still worth 89.

This wine: Not as good as 1961. Pale tawny. Tertiary but still green pepper. High tannin.
(later on the evening we also tasted a magnum of same vintage - still blind! It was slightly better. I rated the magnum 89: Pale ruby color but with a light rim. (clearly less developed than the bottle which was tawny). Unfortunately a little corked but still worth 89.)

May 31, 2016 - Vin for særlig interesserte.
1962 Ch. Pontet-Canet: Lys orange. Lær, fiken, mineraler, blomster, unerskog og buljong. Blomstervann og buljong i munn. Fremdeles hint av tanniner. Spennende nese, men ikke akkurat vitalt i munn. Way over the top. 80p

January 15, 2016 - Chateau Pontet Canet, Pauillac 1962 by a Cruse bottling.
Top shoulder, dark red and looks much younger.
Punchy flavors of cassis, blackberries, cedar, pencil, black olives.
On the palate, presented a medium-bodied, with an acid-present as balanced counterweight to the fruit sweetness. But much cassis, blackberries, cedar, still has not quite juicy elegance and aristocracy.
Beautiful medium long finish with cassis, blackberries and cedar.
    A great wine.
