Community Tasting Notes 10

December 15, 2018 - this bottle was shared by ericindc who attended South Jersey CT offline held at Ravello in Robbinsville. I am familiar with the wines of Friuli in general but not from the sub-appelation of Venezia Giulia in particular. the style of this wine is way outside my wheelhouse and i would need to add considerable bandwidth to my palate in order for my opinion to have any value. for me, the funk took over and obscured the subtle qualities lurking underneath. would it be fair to say that this particular bottle may have been near the end of its longevity range? i defer to the opinion of others who appreciate what this wine has to offer more than i do.

December 15, 2018 - NJ Supper Club December Dinner (Ravello by Toscano - Robbinsville, NJ): Beautiful nose of orange peel, some molasses, a touch of funk. Light sweet brown sugar, apple, light orange, some bitter hints, and mint. Really fresh, light structure and good acidity. Not a huge hit for most at the tasting. I figured it would be polarizing.

May 7, 2018 - PNP into BB&R Burgundy glass (“No” day): Orange, nice colour but a little cloudy.

Clean, pronounced nose of ripe mandarins and citrus fruits, orange rinds and peels. Great acidity, minerality and a soft touch / “drinkability” which is signature of this producer.

Reminiscent of the Fuori dal Tempo indeed and a great bottle. Getting even better with more flavours with time. 93-94 points.

July 30, 2014 - Still very much in tact. Beautiful orange crystalline hue with a balanced and focused palate. Great acidity and lengthy finish.

September 10, 2013 - No sign of this wine losing any of its stuff. Continues to drink beautifully.
