October 19, 2020 - Fabulous! Perfectly balanced. Loads of dark, rich fruit. Prunes and compote. A touch of licorice. It was decanted and continued to soften and flavors merged over 2 hours.
July 28, 2019 - Last bottle. Full of fruit and structure and all that is good. Wish I had another.
December 19, 2017 - What a difference two years makes. Coming out of whatever that closed period was, the structure has eased and the earth and earthy fruit is more forward. Still a bit closed but could go for years more I think.
October 28, 2017 - Aging nicely. Well integrated tannins, though the fruit is fading.
December 8, 2015 - Dusty and dirty, but still enough fruit poking through to keep this interesting. Drink sooner than later.
December 3, 2015 - Fruit & nose are gone..... Earth mother now, tannin heavy
May 15, 2015 - Here we are in 2015. Lots of dirt and earth, little fruit. Still structured, will it pass... Ever?
October 4, 2014 - Still very solid, and really open. Every time I try a wine that's made with Melville family grapes I thank mother earth for what she gives and the growers for their expertise and for sharing these wonderful vines with people like us. This one will be even better in 2020.
February 3, 2014 - Really coming into its own. No decanting this time, so it took 15-20 minutes in glass to open, then continued to evolve through the night. Dark berries and subdued pepper (compared) mingling together quite nicely. Tannins are present but not overpowering. Really liking this at this time.
September 21, 2013 - Still dark and brooding. Opens some with air, but only enough to let some fruit sneak in over the underlying dirt. Structured, nice.
Try again in, say, 2015...?
