Community Tasting Notes 8

April 17, 2020 - Decanted and served from bottle with perfect cork. This showed much better than my other bottle. The best note was a pure licorice cassis, still quite present although I imagine past peak. With air it got more to be old bones, with nice sweet oaky acid but losing character. It was a treat to drink this special, beautiful bottle of wine.

November 10, 2019 - Decanted two hours. This is a very special wine, being the last vintage from the original plantings. Unfortunately this bottle was a bit porty with maple syrup obscuring the rest of flavors. It was drinkable but not a great showing.

April 14, 2018 - Decanted and put right back in the bottle, as I was not sure how this wine had held up over the course of its life. We found, to our surprise, that this wine was singing! Slight bricking on the edges, but plenty of in this bottle. Most of the fruit was gone, leaving beautiful secondary notes. Medium bodied and well balanced. A great treat.

April 11, 2018 - Probably not as good as it once was. Nonetheless, this was still a wonderful wine with nice black cherry and black currant fruit. Elegant, complex, and a medium to long finish.

November 12, 2013 - American Belle 2nd Edition (Switzerland): Tasted blind: Dark red showing some age at the rim. Nose of leather but after a few minutes fully oxidyzed. Past its peak. Either a very poorly stored bottle or the wine is already dead. I hope its the first...
