July 19, 2023 - Supper at Fred's (Freds, Oxford Street, Sydney): From Coravin and magnum. A bit of sous bois with a touch of farmyard joins slightly riper black hued fruits; plums; berries; currants with a touch of leather. In the mouth it's impressively dense without being overtly tannic, leathery dark fruits to the fore. I think this is my first 1990 Bordeaux from magnum. Interesting experience compared to the single bottles. More fruit and concentration but less balance. That could, of course, just be the producer. Ho hum.

December 17, 2021 - Light red fruits, some cedar and tobacco on the nose. Medium bodied. Red berries on the palate with some leather, some minerals, quite expressive, medium acidity and the remaining tannins are smooth and feather light. Very enjoyable fully mature claret. Late cellar release. Recorked in 2017.

December 25, 2020 - Surprisingly little bottle sediment although I believe that this had been cellared at the chateau until recently, I’m not sure if that had any impact on the development.

Immediately menthol on the nose. Depth and substance layered behind the initial freshness.

Tastes of tobacco and leather and age. Held up nicely over a few hours. Very tasty, very deep, very enjoyable.

    December 31, 2018 - 2/3. Decanted and immediately served.
Medium/deep garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Nose is quite red fruited with lightly smoky red berries, earth, touch of cedar. Quite fragrant. Medium/full bodied, ripe red fruits, spicy, lightly earthy, fully resolved soft tannins, decent acidity, good length harmonious finish showing a touch of caramel. Fully mature.

October 11, 2018 - 1990 Bordeaux (Piccolino, Exchange Square, London): Medium/deep garnet core, pale medium rim. Nose shows red and black berry fruit, touch of cedar. Medium bodied with mouth-filling red and black berry fruits, touch of spice, cedar, lovely vibrant acidity carrying a decent length, harmonious finish. Really lovely mature Margaux - now and maybe for the next 5 years.
