Rockss and Fruit

  • By Lyle Fass
    11/18/2007 (link)

(Faiveley Echezeaux) Not a promising color when poured. Almost an eerie brown. Nose smelled like trash juice. Okay . .that fear is back . . . of putting this stuff in my mouth. Better grab the spit bucket just in case. Just what I expected. BAD. SUCKY WINE! HORRIBLE! Ughh . . . Sorry for the capitals but it was that bad. When Faiveley is bad no one in Burgundy can touch them. This was like taking Pinot Noir in medicine form. Like wine for the criminally insane. I can see Nurse Ratchet serving this up. Bitter, leafy, minty, and horribly tannic. A taste of vastly underipe cherry fruit with that super Faiveley structure. This had Grand Cru grip but you kinda wish it didn't. As the flavor it leaves behind is so horrible you need to get a nice cold glass of water going to get rid of this taste. Whoah!
