  February 11, 2022 - Traditional bordeaux style with balance and complexity. The fruit has held up very well after 50 years. Color is still deep ruby with a hint of brown. Nose reminds me of black cardamom pods. Super classy palate with excellent mid palate and a long finish. Mid weight, nothing out of place, superbly well integrated. Thanks to my Dad for this piece of history and happy 50 to my wife!

  December 24, 2011 - Caymus 1972 and 1973 (Flemings, Walnut Creek, Ca.): The first vintage of Caymus and my only bottle from a restaurant in San Diego going under, bright beet red color in the glass, nose of black cherry, black berry, and a hint of mint, same on the palate, good acid, elegant, tastes better than the 1973 tonight, very tasty, mouth filling fruit, rich fruit, similar to the 1979 Dunn I have enjoyed, long, lingering finish and lovely aftertaste.
