June 13, 2015 - Very fragrant and expressive bouquet that could be smelled as soon at the cork was popped. Rich and sweet, in the typical brawny style of d'Oliveira. Carmel, dates, chocolate and citrus tang. Very good length. A bit of VA was detected, which did not detract much. A lovely, powerfully rich Boal.

January 10, 2014 - Quick taste. Quite clean and pleasant nose, complex, moderately sweet ans just slightly burned. Very spicy, very rich, complex. Interesting, but a touch agressive and lacks acidity, spice dominated. Very long peppery coffee aftertaste.

May 14, 2013 - Amazing savoury power, and yet it's brown sugar sweet. Words won't do.

February 15, 2013 - Pointless really to describe this in terms of other flavours. It is the essence of brown sugar, and yet so deep and multifaceted. A wonder.

February 12, 2013 - Best Madeira I've had, and probably one of the best wines. Enjoyed at Del Frisco's Fort Worth. This was intense. A very dark yellow / amber to light brown color. The nose out of the glass was incredible - rich, full, raisin. The pour was very intense and coated the glass like Robitussin. The palate was a full bodied wine that was more intense than the 1920's D'Oliveiras that was enjoyed previously. Rather sweet, raisin, plum, oak barrel, intense, thick, and would have gone well with some good Strawberries romanoff, creme brulee, or bread pudding. No telling about this one. This wine is integrated, thick, and ready to go over the next 3 decades.
