February 14, 2024 - A sort of blackish, translucent dark colour! Approaching the age of forty, it is surprisingly young, full of vibrant fruits, and full of energy. There are tons of powdery sediments, and they definitely need a brief decanting or should I say pour the wine in your glass very carefully! Complex nose of mild caramel fruits, a hint of sweetness and a hint of oriental spiciness, and of course, the benchmark seasoned cedar wood cigar leaves, gorgeous aroma. The palate is in my view, rich and dense, but not tight, very spicy, and slightly dry with a long finish! Drinking window? It is entirely up to you, now or within the next two decades, it really depends on how one stores it!

I opened it for the occasion of St Valentine ♥ day, the wine is on the masculine side, so my mission failed, not for the romantic atmosphere shall we say...

January 28, 2024 - [recorked by the winery and late release in 2015]
Very much into the tertiary notes, layered with mushroom, leather and black tea, and mint. long finish.
The fruit is not as fresh as the last bottle from almost 5 yrs ago. Still love it.

November 10, 2023 - this bottle more tertiary than previous experiences. Lots of gravel, cigar and drying fruits, to the point I would have guessed Graves if I were blinded. The fruit is still sporting good balance but the finish is a bit clipped. Still quite enjoyable though you should be consuming these

November 7, 2023 - Another great Bottle, now pretty mature with the fruit a little more in the background. Possibly time to drink them up over the next years.

(Château Léoville Las Cases) Group's #8 (my #5) – 38 pts; 0, 0, 0, 2 – Dark garnet red color; funky nose on opening, that largely cleaned up to a cassis and herbal nose with a green note, and a possible touch of TCA; tart red fruit, menthol and herbal palate with tobacco edges; medium finish

(Leoville-Las Cases) This wine brought the funk into overdrive. Brett, horse, vivid cassis and mineral on the nose. The palate was brilliant with concentrated flavors, brett running throughout but not too much and perfectly integrated with the rest of the wine. Great texture. Finish was explosive and pure. The wine was just so complete. Fantastic and the last "real" LLC as after that they got the first reverse osmosis machine in Bordeaux and the rest is a sad sad history.
