March 21, 2022 - Drank over two nights (with half of the content in a small PET bottle over night), and this was better on day 1 than day 2 where it was showing just a touch too much wood for the remaining fruit. Probably better to drink over the next few years

September 12, 2021 - Recent purchase. Poured into decanter and started drinking with food. Starts as a pleasant, medium bodied, typical Bordeaux. Dark berries but not particularly aromatic, some earthy notes, integrated tannins. With more air, at first the fruit seems to fade a bit but later the nose picks up this nice, slightly green note, indicating the cool vintage.
PS: Opened a 2010 Malartic Lagraviere after this and while this 2010 is obviously the much higher rated wine and vintage, I enjoyed the Phelan Segur more. No rush but nor reason to wait much longer either - drink over the next 5 years.

PS: Tried this again a few weeks later on pnp, and the wine does need a bit of air for some more dominant oak and wood spice notes to blow off. Otherwise a lovely wine that it for sure good for another 5 years.

February 11, 2021 - My last bottle out of six from this vintage of Phelan Segur and probably the one i like at least. This bottle seems a bit different from the others, but maybe it was just the wrong moment to drink it. still dark colour, smells of berries and a bit earthy. a but too alcoholic and not as much balanced as it was before. medium ending.
