August 10, 2011 - beautiful mature beaujolais with floral, mineral and elegant berries notes.
April 1, 2011 - An Exploration of Great Beaujolais Domains In Situ; 3/29/2011-4/1/2011 (Villie-Morgon, France and environs): Light, lively wine with fragrant red fruit. Elegant with lots of earth. Only demerit is some dryness on the finish, but I enjoyed this.
March 20, 2011 - Laboring with a headcold I am unable to report much in the way of my own impressions, but instead will vicariously report Jean's. She felt that this wine was lovely in a lightweight vein (which was what we were looking for tonight) with a distinct herbal note that she felt made for a better match with the bread stuffing than the roasted Rock Cornish game hens. Regardless, it was lovely and limpid and went down all too easily.
May 21, 2010 - This time I was struck by carbonic maceration aromas as well as the previously noted cherry. Light with a bit of sap, excellent verve.
April 4, 2010 - Just a delightful bottle of wine. This opens to joyous, grapey goodness, dark soil notes, and mouthwatering acidity. So versatile at the table, this is the perfect wine for a substantial meal, as the lightness of body and high acid of the wine are a great antidote to heavy cuisine. Yet there's a serious hint lurking under the surface; an inkling that this has the fortitude for medium-term aging. This is one of those wines that disappears so quickly that you don't get a chance to see what it does an hour, two hours, a day after it's been opened... it's just too easy to drink.
January 17, 2010 - Trop mince et avec une finale légèrement brouillonne. Pas notre genre. Je n'en rachèterai pas.
December 29, 2009 - Again, I was impressed with the bitter cherry fruit, but this time, I was also struck by a very Burgundian earthiness that added complexity. Very good tonight.
November 29, 2009 - Everything you want from a Cru Beaujolais-tart cherries, zingy acidity, refreshingly light weight. Nothing to make it particularly memorable, though.
October 6, 2009 - Nice fragrance of menthol and cedar, but the palate does not quite deliver on the initial promise. While it has a pleasant taste of raspberries (and maybe a hint of the dreaded banana, but that's probably my imagination), there's no depth, no backbone. Worth maybe $10-12 in the discount bin, but not worth the $19 I paid for it.
September 15, 2009 - Not an impressive version of this wine. The mid-palate is dilute and the fruit is simply not very expressive, the acidity is not strong, and overall the wine is just a bit flat.
