Belle bouteille!

March 20, 2023 - Burgundy in color with orange hue on the rim and slightly bricking this wine has nose of strawberries, cranberries, rose petals, tobacco, allspice forrest underbrush and Paulliac-like pencil led followed by the rich medium to full-body palate with an ensemble of red fruit, fresh acidity and finely grained tannins with pronounced secondary characteristics of pencil lead, truffles and spices finishing long and savory.

October 1, 2022 - Opened up considerably over the first 1.5 hrs but would open up hours earlier next time.

Strawbeery/cranberry, anise and trace baking spice with still moderate acid and smooth tannins with a lingering granite finish.

Drinking great and we think could go for longer

December 24, 2020 - from memory. I have only had a few well aged burgundies at this price point. It immediately reminds why it's always worth splurging on special bottles. This had a nose that sang red fruit and was superbly balanced on the palate with a long savory finish. Just divine and wish I had more!

July 12, 2020 - Finally! An '05 that is expressive and somewhat living up to the hype of that vintage in France that we were all sold upon release. Firmly in its secondary phase, this wine is very expressive aromatically, floral, sappy, lively red fruits. Darker profile on the palate, and tannins are rather resolved, but still some acidity showing strong. Very long finish. Only concern is the color, which appears only slightly more advanced than I'd guess for an '05, but the wine doesn't seem to have too much advancement in the glass. While we all wait for our '05s to actually do something...enjoy this one!

92 pts

July 11, 2019 - Notes after two hours open. Still a dark and dusty ruby color, about 70% opaque. No sediment.
Broad spectrum, floral and forest nose with spice and chocolate-covered cherries. Good intensity, almost profound.
Tannins are letting up their grip on the palate and it weaves together better, but the wine tastes just a little bit tired and is, perhaps, starting to run out of energy on the fruit flavors. Over the next 2-3 years is my thinking.

November 22, 2018 - Still a touch tannic, and based on my note from 30 months ago and the way it’s drinking tonight, maybe the fruit will be gone before it softens to my ultimate liking. 5+12+16+8= 91
