April 17, 2024 - Preface: I am a huge Latour fan.....do not know of the prep given to this bottle.

Mid garnet in the glass. Nose was somewhat muted. There are florals and some cedar but not like in the wonderful '95 from tonight.

Palate was also muted/reduced with dark red fruit. Tastes 'old'. Lacks complexity at this stage or for this vintage?

April 3, 2024 - We had it in the seafood dinner in 索罟湾 with the parents from SH. It was a conclusion to all other BDXs of the same vinatge, but it was still shy event after 2-3 hours decanting. The best comments was from Haut Brion.

March 16, 2024 - Corked. Brought by a friend. Both 1986's (Pape Clement and Latour) at the dinner have been defective

June 20, 2023 - **What did I miss once again and where did this wine go? A first growth 86? Last bottle and obviously a miss on all levels. Very weak for a Latour, but still very Bordeaux. More cedar laden with expected earthiness, but clipped and short. The best thing this wine has going for it was that it was rather light footed. Drink or Sell for the value.

April 29, 2023 - 3 hr decant. Is it a great Latour? No. Is it a great wine? Yes. Tons of blackberries and dark stone fruit, all intense but remarkably fresh. Graphite, some tobacco leaf, very little in the way of florals. Very smooth, almost defying the vintage. In no danger of cracking up - it seems you could keep this for decades more and it would be virtually unchanged. But this is assuredly *not* a block of wood like so many 1986s turned into. If I had to extrapolate, allow me to compare this to 2 1986s I know well: 1986 Lafleur - which seems like Sleeping Beauty to be condemned to silence for a century — and 1986 Gruaud Larose, which finally has come out of its cocoon. This is somewhere in the middle: more longevity than a Gruaud Larose, less despairingly eternal (as in eternally unforgiving) than 1986 Lafleur.
Score: 95. Relative to expectations: ++

November 26, 2022 - Excellent 36-years old Latour in perfect condition. The wine has been in my cellar in 25+ years. The vintage was questioned some years ago and it was interesting to see how the wine had developed.
Dark mulberry colour with some brick notes in the edge. The nose was still black fruit dominated, dark plum, mature black current, pencil, tobacco, dark chocolate and some sweetness. Intense taste with medium acidity, fruit as above, still medium, but very polished tannins. Great balance and a very, very long aftertaste. In total good but not great. More robust than elegant, but a very good wine.
Will the wine be better with more aging? I don't think so, but I think it will continue on the same level a few nore years.

April 4, 2022 - Drank on the special day for her! A dark inked color, subtle nose but blossomed with 2-3 hours decanting, floral, black fruits, tobacco, pencil lead, yeast, sweet honey nose, silky palate with medium body, elegant and long after taste. Bravo!

December 17, 2021 - Pale garnet, almost lost the fruits, a little redcurrent, hint of strawberry jam, very intense leather, earth, meat, vanilla, dry, the acidity is still high, medium body, medium plus to long finish. It's about the end of the peak, or maybe already passed. better have it soon.
