August 15, 2016 - Classic California Cab nose and a broad, jammy palate with plenty of fruit to hold up to the alcohol. Still seems young. It's held back from a higher score by some bright harshness on the finish, but this may resolve with more time in the bottle.

August 13, 2016 - Camphor and light strawberry on the nose. On the palate, powerful purple and black fruit with notes of cassis, graphite, white pepper, and oak on the medium to long finish, with light silky tannins and good acidity. Although this is a powerful wine, it's complex enough to stay interesting, and the high alcohol is thankfully not in evidence. This is excellent, and it's likely to improve with more time; I'm glad I have a few more bottles. It was a good to excellent value at the $80 that I paid, but at the $140+ prices I see it for now I will not be a repeat buyer -- too bad.

July 24, 2016 - This is in a perfect place right now. Just starting to show some age on the nose and color, but still fresh and powerful. Shows little heat considering the 15.2% alcohol. Wonderful.

June 12, 2016 - Opaque purple turning violet at the rim with a thick transparent band at the edge. The nose shows ripe red and black fruits with hints of smoked figs, plum, and mocha. This has a ripe, jammy palate that's full-bodied; densely-structured; heightened; and velvety and round in texture. Flavors of blackberry, smoke, cassis, and dried herbs form the palate. This is complete and a meal in itself. Finishes long and juicy with hints of scorched cedar. Perhaps a fruit bomb, but give it a chance. Drink now until 2026.

May 29, 2016 - Deep color. Intense nose of cherries, currants and herbs. Full body, with intense flavors and integrated tannins. Long finish. Delicious now.
