December 7, 2016 - Christmas Lunch with former colleagues at Chez W (Princeton, NJ): I have been checking in on my 06 wines at the 10 year mark, pulled this to go with lunch. Game time decision so it was PnP, pushed through a vinituri drank over 30 minutes

Medium ruby/purple color. Complex nose, earthy/musky, dark fruits and smoke. Rich and forward palate of dark cherry, blackberry, meats/savory, smoke, charcoal. Rich palate, long and layered finish. Tannins are sweet and softened.

Great wine from Pahlmeyer, this is in a really good spot now, like most of the 2006 Napa vintage I have tasted...vintage has surprised to the upside (IMO). This is great now, should go for 10+ more years if cellaring.

December 3, 2016 - I thought something that is 10 years old would be a nice round number to drink last night. I decanted and drank over a couple of hours. Hard to put down. Thick and fruity, but not overpowering. Has really mellowed since it was released.

November 20, 2016 - Neutral because my wife got a migraine that eve. Only happens with new world cabs. So a split decision here.
Decanted from AM. A fruity, lush and almost soft wine, tannins pretty fully integrated, fruit forward, with a bit less on the back end. It might be that it's best time is now and the next few years. My impression is clearly different from last January. Perhaps it's the long decant? Perhaps it's the legacy of 12 days in Italy recently? If my impressions vary so, am I reliable? Ok, too much philosophical here, but I have to try and learn, what's changed here, in a relatively short time, the wine or my understanding of my palate.

August 15, 2016 - Classic California Cab nose and a broad, jammy palate with plenty of fruit to hold up to the alcohol. Still seems young. It's held back from a higher score by some bright harshness on the finish, but this may resolve with more time in the bottle.
