June 10, 2015 - Nice and open on the nose, really expressive and complex with ripe fruit and floral notes. Showing the richness of the vintage on the palate as well, but there is no heaviness at all, the acidity is bright and uplifting. Great length and balance. Excellent. Drink or hold. 92-94

January 14, 2015 - Day 4 in the Nahe - Donnhoff/Schafer-Frohlich/Emrich-Schoenleber (Nahe - Germany): I don't think I've drank too many auction bottlings from Donnhoff. We had been talking with Ann about the 2003 vintage so she pulled this bottle for us to try (pretty generous, huh?). The flinty/sulphury nose reminded me of what a lot of young Meursaults can smell like. Very dense lemon/lime tones, pears, peaches, apples. The palate was bright, tropical and awash in mouth-watering acidity. Thought this was brilliant. Another example of a 2003 that's kicking butt right now.

October 24, 2009 - Hmmm...After tasting 2001 and 2005 of Niederhausen Hermannshohle Auslese from Donnhoff in the last year or so, I was looking forward to taste this wine, but unfortunately even vineyard as great as this was not spared in the hot 2003 vintage. Quite linear and unexciting for me, sugary midpalate and short finish.
