September 19, 2015 - Aromas of ripe black cherry, red currant, cocoa, vanilla and slight hints of oak. Intense flavors of dark berries, blackberry liquor, along with notes of dried herbs and pepper. Round and velvety with a smooth and lingering finish.
November 23, 2013 - A very well made, solid wine. It definitely is best with meat, but that's to be expected with a blend like this.
December 18, 2012 - Five years is the perfect time to wait for this bottle. It's silky, medium bodied with chocolate and dark cherry notes and just lovely. Perfect on its own and with a steak dinner. and on it
October 25, 2010 - Delicious!
October 10, 2010 - Unchanged since my last tasting, and still outstanding.
May 14, 2009 - First time I tasted this was at the October 2008 Santa Barbara Wine Festival, this is important to know for two reasons: 1) because of all the wines I tasted, A Good Year was my favorite--so much so that we drove to Santa Yanez on our way back to Santa Barbara to buy some, and 2) it's possible I am biased to give the wine good marks :-), it was my first visit to Santa Barbara and my wife and I had a wonderful time. Now, about this wine. Pop, pour, enjoy; no need to air it out. The nose gives subtle hints of what the palate offers: mouth filling thick dark berries and spice, the flavors build to a crescendo of creamy fresh fruit. It's as if the winemaker had just finished the bottling and was ladling out glasses for our enjoyment. Ah, this is why I love the wine experience.
