Community Tasting Notes 9

April 14, 2024 - Only bottle from this vintage AND only bottle of white bordeaux from my cellar, so I am not really qualified to talk about this wine of which existence I was reminded by the notes of Chatters.

That said, this bottle paired perfectly with a royal gilthead bream cooked in the oven with vegetables. And yes, once you think about bruised apples in relation to this wine, it's hard not to identify this taste.

April 16, 2023 - Dave's 60th lunch (Porcine, Oxford Street): Further to earlier note took this along for lunch. Aromas of cream, honey, bruised apple, sweet spice, slightly butter. Medium plus intensity acidity tending to sour green apple and bruised red apple, a little textured burr, honey. A good idea to tidy this up.

April 14, 2023 - Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Ooh, more forward than the 1980, darker in colour, more honeyed, a little lime, a tiny dried fruit and some herbaceousness, cream and butter with time and a touch of bruised apple oxidation. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, those bruised apple oxidised notes are more present on the palate, it's a little mushy on the mid palate and finishes a touch meaty joined by cream, butter and slight honey which adds some charm but this is drink up bottle for me.

February 23, 2022 - Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier; 2/23/2022-3/6/2022 (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Aromas of cream, honey, butter, sweet spice, green apple with a smidge of bruised apple in support, a little cheesy lees. with time the oxidative note grows. Honeyed and rich but with sufficient acidity to keep things clean. A little front of mouth grip and a smidge of bitterness on the long finish lends further interest. Engaging and rather lovely.
