January 12, 2014 - Day 1: A tannic beast. Lot's of flavor, but the tannins are just too much for me as they block out any subtlety or complexity. Day 2: a third of the bottle corked and left on kitchen countertop. Tannins have been tamed and the wine is much more balanced and enjoyable. My one and only bottle, but if I had more I'd leave them alone for 2-3 years

November 28, 2013 - Lovely, seductive wine. Very dark color, strong blackberry element in the nose. Quite fragrant. Brambles and spice on the palate; dark fruit on the attack, with some earthy notes on the finish. Just a textboook Petite Sirah, only lacking a bit of depth and lushness on the finish to merit a higher score. But make no mistake - this is good stuff. A bit pricey, but worth it. Highly recommended, and would buy again. Will hold and possibly improve for another five years.

July 8, 2013 - coming around very nicely from 2 years ago, when I doubted it could be as good as the 2005. Now it's right on par!

June 27, 2013 - - Medium forming legs. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a medium finish - I think this wine is fantastic and always consistent. Have tried other petit syrahs and always come back to this one. Blackberry on the nose with silky tannins and medium to long finish. Always keep this wine in the cellar.

June 20, 2013 - Tried over three hours. I have had better vintages of Stags Leap Petite Sirah. The tannins are more prominent, probably due to slightly less acidity than is typical? Also a bit thinner since the blackberry characteristic is not as prominent. Not as big as is typical of a Petite Sirah. Probably not age worthy.
