Community Tasting Notes 9
September 6, 2014 - hazelnuts, toffee, vanilla (?), pretty similar to my previous note. really interesting wine.
May 13, 2014 - I opened this four nights ago, poured a small glass, and replaced the cork. The bottle has been at room temperature since then. When first opened, this tasted like liquid creme brulee. Today, the individual components are starting to show themselves. Hazelnuts, toffee, raisins are all evident in this essentially dry wine with serious acidity. I'm really enjoying this, and looking forward to its continued evolution.
May 6, 2012 - -- tasted a single glass non-blind from a bottle that was opened approx. 2 months ago --
NOSE: expressive; fruitcake; hint of varnish; tawny.
BODY: medium to medium-full bodied.
TASTE: dry and tawny; toasted pecans and walnuts; golden raisins; incredible acidity; finish is intense, and of great length; still very nice, and consistent with previous notes from this bottle.
April 2, 2012 - -- tasted a single pour non-blind over 30 – 60 minutes --
-- from same bottle as 3/9/2012 note --
NOSE: expressive; a bit high-toned, despite an overall tawny (brown sugar & pecans) personality.
BODY: golden-brown color of medium depth; clear; medium-full bodied.
TASTE: great acidity; dusty oak and pecans and walnuts; long tawny finish of medium-strong intensity; alcohol is a bit more pronounced tonight than it was nearly a month ago. Still excellent.

March 9, 2012 - -- tasted a couple pours non-blind over a couple hours --
-- tasted from a bottle that had been open for only a few hours --
NOSE: lifted aromatics: spicy orange/lemony tang; paprika; hint of dusty oak; a tad candied – like sticky caramel buns; medium+ expressiveness; complex.
BODY: medium-dark amber-tawny color; medium-full bodied.
TASTE: *zippy* electric acidity; lemony tawniness; light golden raisins; moderate oak; full palate; gorgeous, but perhaps lacks a little drive on the finish, which is nonetheless long and coated in tawny nuttiness; 20% alc. well-hidden.
B: 50, 5, 14, 17, 8 = 94
(almost went with “16” for a 93)

(D'Oliveiras Madeira Terrantez Colheita) Light medium orange amber color with yellow to clear meniscus and light orange lights; nice, nut oil, melted butter, lightly floral, toasted almond, rich toffee nose; tasty, youthful but poised and complex, toasty, almond, rich lemon, tart orange palate with depth; long finish 93+ pts.
