April 30, 2022 - A real blockbuster! Marvelous golden color. Decadent supercomplex nose of apricot, white peach, almond, honey, butter and caramelized nuts. Enchanting round, ripe and full on the palate. Balmy, luxurious texture. As if all your gustative nerves were on drugs: gorgeous. At an ideal stage of development now, but many more years ahead. A pure joy to drink!
April 20, 2022 - dark gold; lovely nose of apricot pit, almond paste, honey with slight bitter finish; silky sooth entry, medium broad, then expanding with very concentrated flavors, very good tangy lift in the end, med+ finish. Really nice, beautifully aged, great shape. DD CdP dinner Lawry's.
May 29, 2021 - Insanely good and in a perfect place right now. Golden color, notes of honey, nuts, honey-nut cheerios, apricot pit, wet clay; full, broad mouth but not heavy, rich and honied but not sweet, broad, mouthfilling, moderate acidity with just a little lift in the back end. Long and balanced. Fantastic wine, should hold another 4-8 years but I think it's at it's peak now. Alex's w/Dan, S&L and fam. Egg rolls and chicken.
December 18, 2020 - Golden; raisen and peach; concentrated; moderate finish.
November 16, 2020 - Darker deep brilliant gold; nose of walnuts, apricot, hay, slight alcohol notes; supple, rich, mouthfilling with lots of baby fat in the entry, broad, nice lift in the end, with bitter phenolic finish that is super intense and quite long. Really fun nerdy intellectual wine that still has some charm. In a great spot right now, should hold for 3-5 years. After that will be good if doesn't oxidize. Needs a rich stinky cheese. Maybe Beef Stroganof? Chicken cacciatore? Turkey??? Blind at Fellow Traveler.
October 5, 2020 - Perfectly mature with tertiary flavors and a steely structure and bright acidity.
March 6, 2020 - Golden and mature; lemony raisen; sharp acidity; honeyed finish.
February 17, 2020 - Excellent body, rich and slightly oily but not heavy at all; perfect condition, still on it's way up, fantastic for this vintage.
March 2, 2018 - It’s rich—with a honeyed-honeydew nose and thick, creamy palate of roasted hazelnut, melon, and faintly smokey, lemon finish. It’s clearly carrying the weight of a warm vintage. I wasn’t much of a fan between 2011-2014 because it was everything I just described but with a heavy-handed dose of booze. Fortunately that seems to have subsided and it has become a more pleasant drink. I’d characterize this vintage as an acquired taste and much less approachable as compared to the cooler vintages. Seems to be aging well and they have plenty of stuffing, so I’d say they have at least a few years left in them.
February 23, 2018 - Aromatic nose of honeysuckle, apricot, lemon zest, hazelnut and a hint of anise. Apricot, honey, candied ginger, Asian pear, tropical fruit and lemon on the palate. Waves of flavor leading to a long, dry finish with balanced minerality. Served with a shrimp boil.
