Community Tasting Notes 3

January 1, 2012 - The first impression was how dark the wine was, very inky with hints of reddish purple at the edges when held to the light. A dark brambly nose and a nicely balanced mouthful of more bramble and blackberry fruit. After a couple of hours out of the bottle there was a slight peppery note. Four hours out there was something leathery and woody (not oaky) there too, but the tannins seemed to become more drying. Very good all round.

April 21, 2009 - Outstanding. Deep, beautiful violet-black color and an intense nose of heavy fruit - plum, raspberry. Huge in the mouth, fruit-forward with medium/strong tannins and a perfect finish - not too short, not too long. Among the top few definitive Argentine Malbecs. My only regret is that it was my last bottle, can't find in the US (about 70 pesos in BsAs in late 2007 as I recall). Similar wine in US would be the Catena Alta Malbec (2005 currently available).
