March 24, 2013 - Saturdays at One - Volume 68 - Double Blind! (Tom's Place in Las Colinas, TX): WIML89
Tasted double blind at a wine tasting.
Garnet colorin the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose fo ferilizer, baby diaper, black pepper and dried herbs. Flavors of berries, raspberries and a hint of cherries. Tart acidity, drying tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink with some air maybe?
My guess was a 1970s Bordeaux. I was so far off the reservation I lost my citizenship.

March 24, 2013 - The color is dark garnet and dense and somewhat cloudy with some orange notes to the rim. The smells are cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, clove, and coffee. The tastes are tart cherry, big earthy notes, cinnamon, clove, tea, coffee, and stones. The tannins are very fine and there seems to be a bit of wood on the finish.

December 4, 2011 - Knightsbridge Holiday Burgundy Sale (Northbrook, IL): An easy wine to enjoy, in fact most people at the tasting liked this quite a bit. i found it a bit simple with the spice almost entirely new oak driven today.

March 14, 2011 - After being slow-oxed for 2 hours, this is wide open. Very primary. Good deep ripe cherry fruit, with a little spice (from oak?), and just a hint of savory meatiness to remind you that this is burgundy. The fruit is nicely concentrated, and this is quite a big wine for a burgundy, but it never feels heavy or overdone to me. There's some tannin here, but it's very fine-grained and provides grip without detracting from the fruit. Not hugely structured, so I don't know how it will age, but this is quite enjoyable young.

March 14, 2011 - Fat, primary, and open, this tastes like it was bottled yesterday. Sweet plummy and red fruit, that burgundy gaminess (I always think of venison jus), and a noticible dollop of light-char oakiness. Not particularly structured, and frankly verging on the new world style, but never goes quite to the point of being over the top. Similar to some of the better 2003s I've had. aytpical for vintage.
