February 11, 2023 - A wine that still has significant potential upside given time. Lovely now but will be much better in a decade or two from now.
Still very tightly wound and needed time to open up so it is a wine that should be decanted at the moment. Lemon, citrus and stone fruits wrapped up high acidity which provided lovely freshness and raciness. Went very well with sushi and sashimi.
Drink ideally in 10+ years. -

April 23, 2022 - Popped and poured. Subtle nose of white flowers and lemon. The wine is light yellow, remarkably unevolved, bone dry, high acidity and pure crystalline. Lemon, lime, crushed rocks come through on the palate. Very tight and focused. This will get better in time.

December 17, 2020 - Popped and poured. Nice crisp nose of grass and wax. The wine is surprisingly youthful and remains light golden. The wine is steely, nervy with lots of acidity but also nicely balanced with flavors of lemon, grapefruit and stone fruits. After about 45 min in the glass the wine begins to flesh out with more orchard fruit flavors coming to the fore. This is an excellent wine and one that is going to have a long long life.

October 2, 2020 - Got this bottle from James Halliday Cellar Auction.
Appearance: medium gold.
Nose: medium plus intensity; aromas of pineapple, wax, honey, lanolin, button mushroom, toast. It's fully developed.
Palate: dry, high acidity, some tannins present, low alcohol, medium body, medium plus intensity, some smoke, savoury/blue cheese and nuts characters on the palate. The finish is medium plus.
Overall, it's a very good wine. Drink now, not suitable for further ageing.
Not the best Vat 1 I have tried, but a high quality one from Tyrrell's. It's underwhelming on the nose, but the palate is quite impressive with complex smoke and a lot blue cheese notes, which reminds me of 2014 Andrew Thomas Braemore. These flavours offer great balance with the still high acidity. There's a little bit tannin-like bitterness lingering at the finish (some skin contact?). The fruits are fading quite a bit therefore not for further ageing.
