February 19, 2014 - very different than when I first had this wine. Very strong initial taste of raisins, dried currants. Almost like an amarone. But this develops out after a while and becomes a bit more subdued. Drinking pretty well, but I think I would drink this up in the next year or so (and I have a fair amount to drink!). I would say this is very good, but I do not score it as high as some others. This might be bottle variation, though this bottle was not noticeably bad and has been stored in cellar conditions for the last decade or more.

February 15, 2014 - Dark ruby in color with a nose of tobacco and leather. Surprising full body, with hardly any age showing, it could go another five years. Tannins were mild, but appealing. Enjoyed this with grilled lamb chops.

January 28, 2014 - Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs (TWO CHEFS, MIAMI, FL): The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are slow. It smells like black currant (cassis), violet, tobacco and chocolate. The body is medium/full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long.
    Barry's wine.

November 28, 2013 - Drinking beautifully - Medium bricking, touch of port on the nose, great vibrancy for its age. Still had plenty of fruit and acidity. Everything was well integrated. Tannins nicely resolved. Was not sure how this wine would hold up and was pleasantly surprised.

September 14, 2013 - Popped and Poured (through a strainer for any sediment). Lots of depth and still surprisingly sturdy. Classic black cherry and licorice. I never had the 97, so I don't know if it has peaked, but it appeared to have 5 years left easy.
