January 23, 2015 - Medium red, faded at the rim. Sensational nose that shows both red and black fruits combined with spice that absolutely intoxicates! Medium body, there is a refined elegance to this wine that lets you know you are dealing with class. Beneath the fruit there are herbal notes and a slight leafy-ness. The body is smooth and long and caresses the palate. The finish was long initially but towards the end of the meal it seemed to fall off a bit. In reading the other notes here I cannot help but wonder if they were dealing with bottles subject to less than ideal storage. This bottle had sat on its side at 56 degrees since purchase in 2000 and was absolutely stunning.

January 2, 2015 - surprised this has gone down hill so quickly. I had the second last bottle a few years ago and it was marvellous. Now just tired. Pity we did not drink it sooner.

November 24, 2014 - From a 375. These definitely should be drunk soon. This one was in between the other two -- nose of anise. Taste of medium strong anise, chocolate, old leather. If you like em old you will like this. I generally do, but this seems a bit too tired out. Not much left to support.

October 12, 2014 - Still limping along. Nose of candied cherry, with an overlay of leather. A little hot on the nose. Not the palate, still some fruit in the center. Tannins dry out the mouth, and there is a bit of a bitter edge, which continues with the finish. There is still a lot here, but it is not very pleasant. Perhaps in a few years it will sort itself out, but at the moment this is fine, not great.
