June 6, 2010 - 7/6/2010 supposedly 100+ years of age, in oval litre bottles, curious cork, top circumference 18mm length 20mm; rich vibrant amber red colour, strong alcoholic nose, smooth taste and full, excellent for elevenses and tastes best out of a small open mouthed glass; transforms a sauce.

January 29, 2009 - Identical to my previous note.

January 16, 2009 - Litre bottle. Ex-cellars William Leacock in Funchal. Wine from around 1900, bottled in the 1920's. Minuscule cork, top-shoulder level. Very vital and attractive immediately after opening, lovely Verdelho typicity, quite dry but with Turkish delight, lovely intensity and acidity, salty like some Amontillados; amazing length, nutty, cold tea. An acquired taste, clearly very old but in great shape.
