Largo y evocador.

July 19, 2019 - What a shame I already consumed 4 of the 6 I had. I has really come around and no need to wait any further. A real charmer right now.

January 28, 2018 - I opened this bottle at the end of a long evening, because we started discussing the 2007 vintage, and I wanted to show how a good 2007 can be. Mortet still never disappoints, and gives me cold dark sweet minty fruit in abundance, paired with fine grained tannins showing me this wine still has years left in the cellar. A stellar performance from my favourite producer, as always. Concentration still pushes above the appellation, and this could very well be mistaken for a premier cru if tasted blind.

November 1, 2017 - The wine looks garnet colored. It smells like strawberry, cranberry, raspberry, mushroom and toast.

October 18, 2017 - Deepavali session at Kallang ES. Pop and poured. Drank over 2 hours.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs.
Nose is initially clean, meidum+ intensity, with aromas of earth, sweet spices, cola, dark red cherries, dark red plums, slight emerging mushroom. With more air, animal and barnyard aromas. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), integrated medium- tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red plums, dark red cherries, savoury earth, cool stones minerality ?alpine rocks, cola, slight meatiness. Long finish.
Very good quality. Would crush many other village Burgs. Great balance despite the concentration of dark fruit. Kinda has some New World feel to it. Drinking well now, and will do so over the next 4-5 years also.

July 24, 2017 - Blew off some funk within an hour after opening. Partially developed dark ruby red color. Very nice and clean burgundy nose. Cold sweet fruit. Classic aged Mortet with mint and cherries. Hints of bonfire. Taste is a revelation as always. Cold dark sweet cherry fruit fills the mouth with rather intense power, especially for the vintage. Defined and smooth tannins. Minty aftertaste. Everything seems in balance and the wine is giving it all. Agewise this one needed 10 years to show the Mortet-charm. My last bottle a couple of years ago was too young. This is perfect. Drink now, or during the next 7 years.

May 30, 2017 - Not a big fan of the lower end 07 Burgundies, this is one of the best I have had. Even more impressive given this is a village. Unfortunately a slightly corked bottle. Still a fairly dark garnet in the glass. Dark fruit, some animal notes and TCA on the nose. On the palate this had excellent concentration for an 07 with a medium body and still plenty of dark fruit and some earth. Tannins are almost gone. Mortet's more concentrated / extracted approach works great in 2007. No reason to wait but this will certainly last for another 5 years. Have one more bottle and will put aside for a but longer. Around 91.

December 12, 2016 - Had this before the Chambertin 2007, and while the jump up is enormous, the quality of this village vv can not be overstated. It totally delivers and outshines the appellation and not least the vintage. Served a bit cool and this has tons of elegance.

January 3, 2016 - Decanted and drank right after. A little closed to start with. Strawberries and metallic nose. After a while and accompanied by some food it really became good. Very masculine with dark notes. Some greenness/pine.

April 21, 2015 - Medium red. Nose with cherries, spice, some tar and liquorice, undergrowth, a bit of iron filings. Medium+ body with cherries and some darker berries (but not really any sweetness of fruit), rather pronounced spice notes, good acidity, some tannins, and a somewhat tart finish with dark berries and tannin. A rather tough Burgundy with surprisingly dark notes, would most likely benefit from some further aging despite coming from a supposedly fast maturing vintage. 90 p?
