September 3, 2016 - Wonderful for what it is. 15.5% alcohol. Softened over the hours. Best to decant and wait two hours. Long finish. Rich, ripe fruit. Makes you sit up and take notice of what you are drinking. Best w grilled steak or other powerful flavors. Wish I had more.

June 1, 2014 - This wine took so long to come around I am not sure what to make of it. There is an amarone quality to it that is just plain weird, almost raisiny in context. The wine started to come around after about four days, but still had this sweet quality to it. Not sure if that was going to burn off. Ultimately, I liked it, but not sure why.

September 2, 2013 - First on the nose is caramel followed by cherry cola then hint of some floral and clove. Mixed berry on the palate with cherry most noticeable. Hints of licorice and more berry on a medium+ finish.

November 8, 2012 - Decanted for 40 min. Medium intensity bouquet with kirsh liquor, tobacco and some smoked and green notes. Alcohol is more noticiable than one would like. On palate this is on the red sweet side, lush rounded, with again some green notes and a bitter medium finish. While nose is on the "please crowd" side I found it quite hard to enjoy... actually I did not.

September 26, 2012 - Strong fennel and berry on the nose. The fruit dominates in mouth at first, but yields to the fennel/licorice and other sweet herbs. Better with food. Smooth finish. Very good QPR.

August 23, 2011 - Drank with Spanish rub ny strip and sautéed onions. Had a wonderful nose, hints of dark red fruits and wood. Last bottle but glad we opened it.
